His Excellency Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote officiated at the University of the South Pacific graduation ceremony held on Thursday, 02ND March at the FMF National Gymnasium.

Speaking to close to 700 students, His Excellency reminded the graduating class of 2018 that each student was a qualified intellectual and that they must utilize their qualifications wisely. “Your qualification will be game changers in your lives, you now have every opportunity to excel in life, families, communities and your home country… I believe that you will be good leaders in your respective fields and even so your own nations and I also believe your contributions will have a profound impact on the Pacific.” His Excellency further challenged the graduates to work together as Pacific Island neighbours to join the fight against climate change that was affecting everyone as it affect all low-lying countries, not only in the Pacific but around the world too. Fiji is no exception; villages have been relocated due to the effects of climate change. The graduation ceremony was accorded in two sessions to accommodate for the number of graduates.
