His Excellency the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote and Minister for Forestry Honourable Osea Naiqamu plant a tree at Borron House, Suva.
His Excellency shared with those present the encouraging message of working together given that many were able to join the Ministry of Forests in Fiji and even around the world to raise awareness and celebrate the important role that forests play in making the countries greener, healthier, happier and a better place to live and call home. “Trees and forests have a profound impact on all of us, but we can sometimes take for granted how important our forests are in our daily lives. Forests have played a critical role to the advancement of human civilisation for all of recorded history.” President Konrote was joined by invited guests in the tree planting exercise at the Borron House grounds to commemorate International Day of the Forests.
