His Excellency Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote received Team Fiji’s traditional i-tatau and conveyed his well wishes to Team Fiji that was to participate in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia on Tuesday, 20th March.
His Excellency the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote and Madam First Lady Sarote Konrote in a group photo with Team Fiji and officials.
Speaking on behalf of the Nation the President reiterated to the team: “You are going as a team and not as individuals. You also go as sports ambassadors for our country. You carry the reputation of our nation on your shoulders. Please do this with dignity and honour. As ambassadors of the country, you will compete against other countries and I urge each of you to practice good sportsmanship.” Team Fiji will compete in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia from 04th – 15th April, 2018. Fiji will be represented in 12 sports and with considerable representation in the Men’s Rugby Sevens tournament after a 12 year absence.
