Presentation of Credentials by the Non-Resident Ambassador of Chile.

His Excellency Mr. Rodrigo Espinosa Marty, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Chile presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote on the 4th of June,2019 at 10:30 am. The ceremony was held at Borron House, Suva.

The Ambassador recently served as the Director of Cultural Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chile. He is a lawyer by profession.
Mr. Marty was accorded a guard of honour accompanied by the tunes to the national anthem of Chile played by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces band.
President Konrote congratulated the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Chile on his appointment and further stating:
“Your Presentation of Credentials today signifies Chile’s commitment to strengthening our bilateral relations and I am confident this relationship will be elevated during your tenure”.
Fiji and Chile have enjoyed cordial relations since establishing formal diplomatic relations in 1972. Chile is recognized as the first South American country with which Fiji has established formal diplomatic relations.
The President reminded the Ambassador of Chile of Fiji’s growing interest in stronger collaboration and partnership in the priority sectors of overseas development cooperation.
The ceremony was sealed with the gift exchange between their Excellencies.
