Fiji Rugby Union Campaign to Bid for Home Leg of HSBC World Seven Series.

The President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Major- General (Ret'd) Jioji Konusi Konrote hosted officials from the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) and the Fiji Nationals Men's 7s team in a bid to support their campaign to host a World Rugby 7s series on Monday, 26 February, 2018 at Borron House.

His Excellency said "Fiji has proven to the world that we are champions on the field, now it's time to showcase all that Fiji has to offer in terms of its passion for rugby, hospitality, fun, sun and friendly people. Today's occasion demonstrates my support as your President to register online and support Fiji Rugby Union's bid to host a leg of the World 7s series in our country. Our 7s team has shown to the world and International Rugby Board (IRB) that we are the wprld champions on the sevens arena"
"Our Fiji 7s team has won our first gold medal summer Olympics in Rio, this has no doubt brought unity amongst all Fijians like any other tournament that we have won in the 7s arena."
FRU Chief Executive Officer, John O'Connor thanked the Head of State for support FRU's bid to host a world series. "This has been a long term plan for the FRU and through the support of the Government and all Fijians we will be able to win this bid," Mr. O'Connor said.
