His Excellency-Chief Guest at the FDB's 2017 National Awards for Small and Medium Entrepreneurs

His Excellency Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote was the chief guest at the Fiji Development Bank’s (FDB) 2017 National Awards for Small and Medium Entrepreneurs held on Friday, 09th February, 2018 at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

His Excellency awarded 10 Fijian companies for their growth and accomplishments at the Fiji Development Bank’s 2017 National Awards for Small and Medium Enterprises. The President highlighted that the Small and Medium entrepreneurs or SMEs of this country were the engines of the economy.
“The income you generate from your businesses and the jobs you create contribute to the economic development of our nation. You certainly contribute to rural development, poverty alleviation, empowerment of our youths and women, and the diversification of our agricultural, industrial and commercial sectors.
You are, without a doubt, all winners,” the President added.
The awards were given in five categories; Developing SMEs, Value Adding SMEs, Responsive SMEs, Special Awards and National SME of the Year.
In total 13 awards were handed out to SME excelling sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, wholesale and retail as well as tourism. Each of these awards was funded by different corporate sponsors.
