2017/2018 Investiture Ceremony

The 2017/2018 Investiture Ceremony was held on the 12th of June 2019 presided over by the Chancellor of the Order of Fiji, the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote. His Excellency awarded 16 outstanding individuals for their individual contributions and services to Fiji.
His Excellency Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote bestowing the Honourary Companion of the Order of Fiji (CF) to the Honourable Murray Stuart McCully, Former New Zealand Minister for Foreign Affairs & Trade.
As one of His Excellency the Presidents ceremonial role as Head of State, His Excellency is also the Chancellor of the Order of the Fiji. As the Chancellor of the Order of Fiji, the President has the legal power to bestow honorary awards to fellow Fijians and honorary non- resident individuals for their meritorious contribution to the development of the nation.
All honorary awards are based on technical expert advice, consultation and thorough vetting of all nominations assessed by a group of four [4] hardworking, dedicated public servants as College of Honour members under the trustful and effortless management of the Secretary to the College of Honour at the Office of the President. This is then submitted and presented to His Excellency for approval.
The Order of Fiji was established by the Fijian Government in 1995 to aptly recognize and reward those individuals who have, and continue to contribute considerably to Fiji’s development as a nation, in any field or endeavor.
The Investiture Ceremony is one of the most anticipated events on the Office of the President’s marked calendar. The ceremony is a prospect to celebrate the distinguished and eminent services, and the bravery of fellow Fijians, and occasionally, honorary appointments, by non-citizens for their gallant influences and meritorious contributions to our beloved Fiji.
The Investiture Ceremony awarded the following persons in recognition for their commendable contributions to their family, community and the nation as a whole;
A Special Global Health Leadership Award was presented to Lieutenant Colonel (Ret’d) Inoke Luveni in honour of the late speaker The Honorable Mr.Jiko Luveni.
