Office of the President donates towards PM's Cyclone Relief Fund

The Office of the President today became one of the first Government agencies to donate towards the Prime Minister's Cyclone Relief and Rehabilitaiton Fund. The donation, on behalf of His Excellency the President and all the staff and security personnel in his Office, was handed to the new Permanent in the Office of the Prime Minister, High Commissioner Yogesh Karan.

In handing the donation, the Official Secretary to the President Pene Baleinabuli conveyed the President's desire for the Office of the President to always lead by example in the national interest.

 He also conveyed the Presiden't sincere and profound appreciation towards the Prime Minister and Governmentin addressing the needs of the people who were affected by Severe Tropical Cycolne Winston.

The President believes that this is a time when the Nation stands united in attending to the immediate and long-term needs of the people and the Nation as a whole. He acknowledged Government's immediate and systematic approach in assessing and deploying food rations and other basic needs to those who were affected.

The President also aknowledged the many individuals and organisations both local and from abroad, including the international community, for their assistance towards Fiji in our "hour of need".

The President also encouraged the Nation to pray for those who lost family members during the cyclone. He also encouraged the Nation to pray in earnest that Fiji will be spared from future disasters.

The Office of the President also donated four large bales of clothing to the Director National DIsaster Management Office.

In the meantime, the President has started a series of visits to areas affected by cyclone.
