The President attended the State Funeral of the Late Hon. Samuela 'Akilisi Pohiva, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga

The State Funeral of the Late Honourable Samuela 'Akilisi Pohiva, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga was held on Thursday, 19th September, 2019 in Nuku'alofa and was attended by His Excellency Major-General (Ret'd) Jioji Konusi Konrote.Prior to the State Funeral, His Excellency the President with other dignitaries paid their respects to the family of the late Prime Minister Pohiva, the Government and the People of the Kingdom of Tonga and expressed our beloved nation's heartfelt sympathies
and condolences during a wreath laying ceremony at the St. George Government Building Chancery in the Kingdom's capital, Nuku'alofa where the body lay in State.
The President later attended the State funeral service which was held at the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga before the body of the late Prime Minister Pohiva was finally laid to rest at the Telekava Cemetery in his home village.
