President Konrote Inaugurated as Honourary Colonel 1FIR

The President of the Republic of Fiji and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency, Major-General (Ret'd) Jioji Konusi Konrote's appointment to Honourary Colonel 1st Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment is in recognition of his extraordinary achievements and embodiment of the Army's Standards and Values, that lie at the core of Military training and ethos that all soldiers are expected to strive towards.

The President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Major-General (Ret'd) Jioji Konusi Konrote during the Inauguration Ceremony at the State House.

His Excellency was accorded an Inauguration ceremony at the State House this morning (Monday, 17th August, 2020). The event opened with a 100 men Regimental Guard of Honour by personnel from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), followed by a Church service and later a 'veiqaraqaravi vakavanua'. The Official event was closed with a Morning Tea.

Attending the auspicious event were the Speaker of Parliament, Brigadier-General (Ret'd) Ratu Epeli Nailatikau in his capacity as the newly appointed 'Colonel of the Regiment'; former Commander of the RFMF and Prime Minister Honourable Voreqe Bainimarama; Minister for Defence, National Security, Policing, Rural and Maritime  and Disaster Management Honourable Inia Seruiratu; the Commander of the RFMF, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu and other retired and current Senior Military Officers.
